Cheryshev: "We want to keep improving and get to 100% as soon as possible"

The Russian reflects on the return to training this week at the Ciudad Deportiva

Denis Cheryshev is happy to be back in training for a potential return to LaLiga activity next month, and he spoke to VCF Media this week to explain how he has adapted to the current situation of individual training at the Ciudad Deportiva.

"It's tough not to see your teammates and the coaching staff, being at home for so long. Now, thankfully, we can come here and have what is maybe a little more of a 'normal' life within the circumstances. We're all looking forward to playing again, which is what we like to do," said the Russian, who has been working since last Saturday at the training facility.

"Training at home changes things a lot. You're inside, which is different to being out on the pitch. Sometimes here you cross paths with a teammate, keeping your distance, speaking a little with them and sharing what is happening in this situation.

"We've all been very keen. You can see this excitement everybody has to have the ball at our feet again and be back on the pitch. I think that all of my teammates have trained very hard over these two months, and now you can see that everybody is in good shape physically. We want to keep improving and get to 100% as soon as possible," added Cheryshev.

The squad have been keeping in shape both physically and mentally, something that the versatile VCF player feels will be important upon their return to action.

"We had daily work at home during the lockdown. We haven't stopped working at any time. Now, all of these training sessions that we are doing are very important for getting back to normal. Maybe it's similar to preseason. We just have to work hard and be motivated. We're sure that LaLiga will return soon.

"Over the course of these two months we have also done psychological work with the club psychologist -both as a group and individually. I think that we need to be prepared for all of these situations."

He also had a message for the supporters, who will initially be unable to attend Mestalla to cheer their team on.

"It's true that we can't play in front of our fans, but we have to follow the rules. We are very excited about returning. I think that the fans are also looking forward to football coming back.

"The fans are obviously very important to us. We haven't lost a league game at home. The situation is what it is, we have to adapt to it and win games. I think that's the most important thing right now. We need to have faith that this will be over soon, and that we will be able to get back to playing in front of our fans."
